A Little Old Fashioned | Nashville Baby Photographer

My sweet friend wanted me to capture her beautiful 7 month old little baby girl in photographs that looked a bit old fashioned.  I jumped at the opportunity to do something a little different than my normal approach to a shoot.  I loved how the pearls added to the effect of the vintage look.  And that hat - seriously? Here are  a few that I really love.... Enjoy!

New Beginnings | Nashville Newborn Photographer

I love to know the stories of those I photograph.  It allows me  a small glimpse into who they are and where they come from.  This sweet family of three has a story of new beginnings.  Not only a new, beautiful baby but also of a home that has been renewed.  You see, they were affected by the Nashville flood last year.  Their entire house was flooded with water almost to the ceilings.  They had to replace everything & start over.  And in starting over, they are able to share it with their first, beautiful baby girl. And to top it off - look at the red hair!  I about died when I walked in and saw her beautiful red, curly hair.  I have to admit that I have been coveting red hair since I saw "Florence & the Machine" perform at the U2 Concert.  Her red hair about made me run straight to CVS & buy a box of Crimson red Nice n Easy.  So photographing beautiful, red hair makes me really happy, needless to say.  :)

Enjoy this little peek into a few of my favorites.... And enjoy your sweet beautiful baby girl!!

Laughter | Nashville Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to have the opportunity to shoot this fun family of four last week.  The Mom is a friend of mine who constantly is making me laugh.  I ran across a quote last night and it made me think of her: "laugher is a bubbly, effervescent form of holiness."  anne lamott

She is a friend who brings laughter in my life every time I am around her.  And sometimes it really feels holy.  Something that only comes from the deepest place of Spirit.  And I am thankful.

So here is her beautiful new baby boy and her amazingly smart and beautiful almost 5 year old.  Oh, and the husband - let's not forget him.  :)

Baby Love | Nashville Newborn Photographer

Walking into homes of newborns makes me automatically long for the days of the newness of life.  There is something about a  home with a new little person that just outpours with hope and joy.  Yes, there are also tired eyes and weary minds yet underneath it all, there exists a sense of belonging that you just can't manufacture.  If I could manufacture that feeling, then I would be living in an old, yet remodeled mansion on Belmont Blvd.  (non-nashvillians that means a really big, expensive house)  :)   So I try to breathe it in and take a little bit of it home with me as my 5 year old whines and my 2 year old throws a tantrum.  I want to remember the hope that we breathed as the newness settled into our home for the first time. The newness is definitely settling into this charming home of now a family of three.  And their new sweet boy is brimming with beautiful, scrumptious baby love.  He stayed awake almost the entire shoot but was amazing throughout it all.  Thank you so much for inviting me in to your home and spending time with your beautiful baby boy.  It was a joy!

Enjoy a few of my favorites...

7 Month Old Goodness | Nashville Baby Photographer

7 months is not only one of my favorite ages to photograph, it is also just one of my favorite ages period.  There is something about a 7 month old that I cannot get enough of... Teetering on the edge of independence but still completely a baby.  The way they can pull up their head to see who is walking in the room.  Their never-ending smiles that can truly melt a parents heart.  And this sweet boy is no exception.  He was sweet and smily the entire session.  I seriously wanted to take him home with me.  And kind of I did.  Sitting here editing his photos has made me fall in love with him even more. So, introuducing Andrew and a few of my favorites....

A Summer Baby | Nashville Baby Photographer

I love babies born in the summer.  Mostly because I can shoot them outside without worry of temperature.  Babies love the hot!  And, let me tell you, these first time parents are adventurous and fun when it comes to photos!  They had so many great ideas that time just flew by.  Sweet little Hattie is going to have a fun life, for sure! It's hard to pick my favorites from this session because there are just so many!  Enjoy...

Telling your Story | Nashville Family Photographer

I am really excited to start up something new at Trone Photography! It has been something brewing in my head for a while but I am finally ready to (almost) bring it to fruition. Before I fully announce it, I am going to need an awesome family to be my "models"! The theme will be your story and it will be about a 3-4 hour session. You will receive a unique video/photo slideshow of our time together.  This is a Facebook page only contest so go online and join the Trone Photography page so you can be apart! Qualifications: You must have one child older than one.  Other than that, age does not matter.  They can be older or younger children.  Cannot live more than 25 miles from Nashville.  Both parents must be willing and happy to cooperate.  (aka no grumpy husbands!)

The final 3 will be calculated by the number of votes received.  Then a "panel of judges"  (aka, not me) will vote on who deserves the session.

How to enter, etc:

1. Tell me your story- photo collage, slideshow, video, poem, story- whatever!  Be creative!

2.  Post it to my wall (try to make it in one post so it is not overwhelming).  If you cannot post it because it is too long just send it to me and I will make it work.

3.  SHARE the page and have your friends come and either "like" or comment on YOUR post on Trone Photography wall.  They have to "like" the page in order to do so.  The easiest way to do this is to push the "share" button on the left side of the page.

4. The final 3 will be announced on Monday, April 11th and then the judges will pick the winner!

Have fun!!!

Sunshine | Nashville Children Photographer

Some warm weather generously came our way after a cruel, cruel winter.  There is something about warm air and sunshine that truly is medicine to the soul.  After hibernating all winter, the tiniest bit of warm air beckons me outdoors.  It also makes me really excited about taking pictures!  I was so happy to be able to get outside and take photos of sweet Jake.  Here are a few of my favorites... And, I will make a public plea- sunshine please don't go away!!!

A Gown Passed Down | Nashville Baby Photographer

Sweet Cecilia is the third sister to wear this baptismal gown.  I think the sweetest thing about this gown is that all of the girls names are stitched on the inside with the date of their baptism.  How amazing will it be as it is passed down from generation to generation to see the faithfulness of God at work in this family?!  Enjoy this little peek into our time together.  Beautiful girl!!!

Newness | Nashville Baby Photographer

Welcome 2011.  As a new year begins, everything seems to offer a second chance.  A fresh, clean slate.  A chance to start over.  Usually this hope of a new beginning only last a few weeks and then we become hopeless with the realization that we are falling into our old ways.  The exercise regime is too much to keep up with.  Waking up at 5:00am to spend time alone is making us too tired.  New TV shows tempt us to not cut back on TV.  Chick-fil-A smells way too good when we pull up to order our salad.  The world lures us away from our resolute determination to start new again. Thankfully, the Bible preaches something different.  It never tells us that new beginnings can only happen on January 1st each year.  It's much better than that.  God's Word tells us that new beginnings can happen every. single. day.  That's right.  Every morning you wake up you are offered a new beginning.  That is GOOD NEWS for a sinner like me!  If you need to read it to believe it, here is proof from Lamentations 3:22-23

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; [1] his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

If your new years resolutions are not going so well just sit back and relax.  According to the One who gave you another year, you have another chance tomorrow and the next day and the next....

As I always say, brand new babies are such a perfect example of the newness of life.  There could not be anything more new than a pink, wrinkly baby.  It shouts of how God creates all things new!   Sweet Stella is the precious baby girl of our dear friends.  I am so thankful to be able to share life with them!  She is one blessed little girl to be born into this family.  She will be one loved little girl.  She already is.

It is that time of year again!  Time to vote on your favorite photo of 2010... The Wrong Way | Nashville Baby Photographer

I drove out to Spring Hill to photograph these two cuties this past weekend.  On the way back, I got on I-65.  As I talking to my Dad on the phone, I realized that I was going the wrong direction on the interstate.  His first comment was, "you mean, the wrong way like as in you are going against traffic?!"  He knows you couldn't put anything past me.  I am known for some pretty crazy mistakes.  Fortunately, I was just going towards Huntsville not Nashville.  I just turned around and headed home a few minutes late. This session was given as a gift to this new Mom of sweet Ella.  I had a great time driving out to Spring Hill- it is beautiful!   Hope you enjoy this sneak peek of sweet Ella & Spencer.

First Birthday | Nashville Baby Photographer

On the day of our pictures, Collier turned one!  First birthdays are my favorite.  It is amazing to think back on the year and remember what was happening the same time last year.  And, now your life is full of so much more!  You would have never believed that your heart could hold so much love for this one little person.  I remember I wrote a post back on my family blog (when I actually had the time to do that) about our first part of the year with BG.  It went like this... The last month has been incredibly busy for us. Bella Grace occupies each minute of our day, except for the moments she is sleeping. What in the world did we do before she arrived? Let's think back: sleep without interruption, eat dinner for longer than 3 minutes, run 4 errands in under an hour, not blame everything on gas and teething, talk like grown-ups, have conversations that did not consist of the words poop and spit-up and of course, who could leave out the conversations James has already had with the young boy's who have already tried to win her heart. So far, she has received a rose from Jacob, a kiss from Charlie and an extended hand from Brooks. Daddy has a lot to worry about in the years to come... But, the real question should be: what in the world did we not do before she arrived? We never fought over who would see her face first after being away. We never cried while simply watching her sleep. We never prayed so hard for one person's salvation. We never loved so unconditionally. We never would give it all up just to see her smile. We never felt our Father's love for us so deeply.

As I sit here looking over this post, I am sharing a chair with my now 4 1/2 year old sweet girl.  There is not much else to say except enjoy those moments.  They really do pass quickly.  Even in the passing there are always more moments to come.  And this is one of them.  So, I must go now and play Barbies with my sweet girl.  And live in this moment.

Enjoy this sneak peek at adorable Collier!!!

Breath of Heaven | Nashville Baby Photographer

In the Trone house we start listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving even begins.  This year is pretty special because Bella Grace does not know the words to the songs but is beginning to learn them.  Do you even remember a time where you did not know the word to every Christmas song?  You don't even think about it when they are playing.  You sing with every word remembered.  And every memory refreshed.  The time when you first understood what "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus" really meant.  The night you went caroling in college and sang "Silent Night" out of key.  Standing outside of the church hearing "O Holy Night" as you were about to walk down the aisle to the rest of your life.  One of those songs that evokes memories for me is Amy Grant's- "Breath of Heaven."  It makes you want to know Mary.  To know the uncommon union of strength yet neediness.  Of her loneliness yet with the very presence of God within her.  As I go into this Christmas season, I want to examine my need for the very breath of God to fill me so I can live through Him.  Just as Mary felt her own neediness and loneliness, we all feel that through this busy season.  God, breath upon us all. Here is a living picture of God's breath being spoken into being.  His spoken words created us.  And here is one beautiful picture of the result: sweet baby Virginia.  Thanks for asking me to take her photos and a few of the family!  I am so thankful that the weather was perfect... Enjoy your little peak into our time together.
