Sugar, Sugar, Sugar! | Nashville Family Photographer
Happy day-after the most sugar consuming day of the year! It was like Christmas at my house this morning when my daughter woke up and remembered that she had a basket of candy waiting for her. And, I had my own little treat hiding in a secret stash in the cabinet- a few sweet-tarts and nerds. Somehow since the candy was given to me, it seems like it is ok to eat too much. It is kind of like when you are at a restaurant and you order the salad. But, your kids order the chicken fingers and french fries. The left-overs seem like freebies. I didn't order it so it must not count. Let's just keep on pretending.... And while we are pretending lets look at a few darling photos of a family of 3 who are about to become a family of 5! A baby boy and girl on the way. There is enough sweetness here to keep us away from the candy (at least for a little while). And, look at this sweet girl and her red, curly hair. I met up with Jennifer & Kevin this past weekend to photograph the beauty of pregnancy. As I have said before, I really believe that maternity photos are so important to capture because it is such a miraculous, short-lived experience. You will never, ever have that sweet baby in your womb again. You will miss the kicks and the way it would hiccup at 2:00am in the morning. You will want to remember the way your stomach stretched so much further than you thought possible. You will want to remember the longing and anticipation to actually see & feel the tiny fingers wrapping around your own. When I look back at the photos of when I was pregnant with BG, I can see a different person. One that really didn't understand the fulness of a mother's love but was right on the brink of finding out. I see a woman who was radiating because a precious life was growing inside her. But, most of all I am amazed at the miracle of it all. She was there and now she is almost 5. You can't go back...ever. But, I always look at those photographs to remember. So, I hope these photographs will allow Jennifer & Kevin to remember as well... I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into your session! You guys seriously were so great to work with and I can't wait to meet your little one!

I took Ashley's photos back in October as she was awaiting the arrival of her sweet baby girl, Annie. I absolutely love maternity photos for many reasons. I love that it is a time that you look so different from the rest of your life. I love it that something miraculous is growing within you. I love it that there is a mysteriousness about the photograph. I love it that someday the baby within you will want to stare at the photograph with wonder. But, most of all I love them because it represents life being lived to the fullest. No pun intended. So, here a few of my favorites of Ashley and her beautiful belly!
